Our stoneware products are made from natural clay, a material that is soft and malleable when shaped and becomes permanently hard and dense when fired at high temperatures. Our Portuguese partner in Alcobaça has a long tradition of working with clay, based on knowledge and craftsmanship that have been passed down through generations. Each piece is carefully shaped and finished by hand, and the firing process creates durable, non-porous ceramics suitable for everyday use. The interior is coated with a food-safe glaze, while the exterior retains the raw texture of the clay, highlighting its natural character.
The material itself has a distinctive tactile quality. Stoneware is robust yet responsive, smooth or subtly textured, and its forms hold a weight and expression that emphasize both practicality and aesthetic appeal. Objects made from stoneware invite interaction and reveal the material’s inherent versatility and enduring strength.
During production, care is taken to manage any minor imperfections, ensuring consistent quality. The combination of traditional techniques, skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail allows the natural beauty of the clay to shine through in every object.
