Glass is a material made primarily from sand, combined with other minerals and refined materials. Our Portuguese manufacturer has decades of experience in traditional mouth-blowing techniques, shaping molten glass at around 1200 °C in moulds with precision and care. Skilled artisans apply a hot-cutting technique to create smooth, rounded edges, and each piece is slowly cooled to relieve internal tensions and ensure durability.
Glass has a rich and versatile material character. It can be transparent or matt, smooth or textured, delicate yet strong and interacts with light in diverse ways, reflecting, refracting or softly diffusing it. This gives glass objects a subtle, dynamic qualities that are both functional and aesthetic.
Excess clear glass from production, including off-cuts or minor imperfections, is returned to the furnace and reheated for reuse within the factory. This practice supports efficient material use and helps maintain the clarity and quality of each piece.
