When Kristian Vedel was appointed professor at the Department of Industrial Design at the University of Nairobi, he found the classrooms were lacking functional furniture for the students. His trestles were the solution.
Their folding capacity makes them easy to store when not in use. Straight and clear lines emphasise the overall design, and it is evident that the design has been carried out by an extraordinary architect with a strong sense for the ergonomic and functional requirements of design.
Characterised by a creative use of materials, the remarkable corner bridle joints and distinctive polished metal fittings play an important role in marking the quality of the trestles and emphasising their subtle virtue.
The starting point for an industrial artist’s work must always be that he or she, from their own point of view and as objectively as possible, takes a position with regard to what they feel society and their fellow people need. They must personally take a stand on the existing possibilities and responsibilities
